Meet Kaffi, a 15-year-old Vortian ex-prisoner like so many others.
Kaffi is kind, gentle, quiet, and very conservative.
Giggly, bubbly and full of love, the girl is nearly irresistible.
But life has not always dealt her with kindness.
Like with most Vortians, she was imprisoned when Vort fell.
But upon its being freed by Tallest Zelle, all who didn't need to be in there were released.
Though, all is not peachy -- Vort is in a state of devastation, and acquiring money and a place to live is tough all over.
In fact, many Vortians are living in shelters in large ships or other planets.
Separated from her mother and father, Kaffi was released into her broken world without any way to get money.
Young, not educated fully and less than "strong," she scrapped for a month or so before making a very heart wrenching decision.
Desperate and trying to survive, Kaffi became a prostitute.
With the scarce money she had, she scrapped up enough for an outfit and that became her only clothing other than prison wear.
She found a pimp, of which who was very "protective" and cold.
Staying in a shelter would have cost extra, so she would sleep wherever she could.
With Vort being so barren, Kaffi didn't have many clients.
Only three to count, but she hated it anyway.
She appreciated getting money, but she was glad her job was so slow.
But after two months of this, her life changed yet again...
At some point, Tallest Zelle ordered a brief orbit around Vort to allow Vortian workers on the ship the opportunity to visit their home world, and possibly regroup with loved ones if they were there.
During the stop, Pepps (Prisoner 777) and Lard Nar went together to explore.
They chose a ground vehicle to drive around and assess the damage, and Pepps drove.
But while driving at night, they spotted Kaffi on a street corner.
at a stop light, Pepps made the bold decision then and there that he wanted to rescue her.
He saw that she was young and could see in her eyes, she didn't want to be there.
However, he knew better than to just pull up and offer to save her.
It's never that easy.
So, in a ridiculously convoluted scheme that he ID NOT clue Lard Nar in on, Pepps pulled up to her and claimed he wanted to be a client.
Lard Nar....flipped...balls.
But Pepps played it cool and got her in the car.
Once arriving to a hotel and getting a room, Pepps finally panicked and told her what was happening.
And, much to his relief, Kaffi wanted the help.
She wanted to be somewhere better, and escape her pimp who, oddly, went by the name "Potluck."
(Pepps, unable to remember his name, refers to him as "Buttplug.")
They ran into Potluck on the way out of the room when trying to get to a rescue vehicle Lard Nar had called.
After panicking yet again, Pepps decked Potluck, grabbed Kaffi and he and Lard Nar ran for their lives.
They got back into their car and sped off, engaging in a terrifying road chase before the guards in the rescue ship interfered and took Potluck back to prison.
Once on the Massive, Zanza (Pepps' girlfriend) quickly took to Kaffi and helped her get warm food, and for the first few nights allowed Kaffi to sleep in her bed safely with her.
She also gave her one of her favorite sweaters so she could feel covered up, to which Kaffi cherished dearly.
She had a new gal pal!
What is to become of Kaffi after this, I don't know yet.
We will have her reunite with her parents, who will welcome her back with open arms and not reject her for what she felt she had to do.
All in all, it will have a VERY happy ending.
