"It was just like any other day, really.
Well -- that's how it started off, I mean.
I was on the sixth floor in Station 9, on my way to run an errand for Professor Krick, and then it happened...
There was a white flash followed by a deafening boom, and the whole floor shook.
Seconds later I heard this...
Horrible, just blood curdling shriek.
Smoke came flooding out of a room down the hall, so I knew it had to be coming from there.
I ran in and found Zim lying on the floor holding his head; he was still screaming.
I had heard him scream before, but never like that.
Smoke was coming off his antennas, and they had blood spots on them.
His head was burnt a bit, too.
I hit the emergency alarm on the wall and ran to him, and held him.
I Tried asking what happened, but he just clutched my shirt and kept screaming that he couldn't hear anything.
We had to wait for help.
I would have carried him, but I was afraid to jar him with too much movement.
Finally paramedics showed up and rushed him out to be taken care of.
It was scary -- I really thought he'd be fully deaf after that...
So now you know why I don't condone unauthorized experiments.
No unmentioned or "secret" projects, all right?"

Here Pepps (Prisoner 777) tells the story of the day Zim damaged his antennae in a horrible lab accident in Vort Research Station 9.
He recalls Zim's desperate cries in agony and fear as his hearing became instantly impaired.
It was a frightening day, but Pepps handled it like a pro and didn't panic.
And while it can't be seen in this drawing, Pepps' other hand is cut up from smashing the glass over the emergency button on the wall.
Filled with adrenaline from the incident, Pepps didn't notice he even got hurt until after Zim got rushed out~.
He's telling this story to Tak, as I have head cannon that supports her becoming Pepps' new apprentice in the sciences.
Rumors say that Zim's constant yelling is a result of him having poor hearing, caused by a very bad lab accident.
This is my rendition of that, and Pepps looks up worriedly while waiting for help.
I like to think that Pepps genuinely cared about Zim, even after the incident with Miyuki.
Even now in my more recent events, I see him regarding him as a close friend 
Hope you like it, I actually sketched another before this about two months ago but didn't like it enough to finish it

I actually kinda felt Zim's pain a while back... I burst my eardrum after I got a sinus infection. I was pretty much deaf- It's all fixed now, thankfully.
